A Way to Address Institutional Sexual Harassment and the Fear to Report with Analytics Instead of Rhetoric
Every week in the organization every employee has a 1 to 5 response (strongly disagree, disagree, neutral, agree, strongly agree) for if they feel sexual harassment is happening and if it’s happened to them. This could be done with an online survey tool.
This data is aggregated by department. A baseline is established. If any employee says they strongly agree on if it’s happened to them, an additional question gets asked if they would like to make a report with their name on it or an anonymous report.
These reports are investigated by a GROUP who will take them seriously, that reports directly to leadership (dean, board etc.). If there is an unexplained spike, the data is analyzed to see who recently joined or what group of people recently joined or why this might have happened.
The responsibility of this issue should not be on people who are mistreated to take the initiative to report institutional failings.
